Juhana Tidel’s novel “In the ceiling the stars are shining” was written a little more than 20 years ago, but the story that this author told then is still relevant today because the feelings and relationships she writes about always concern us. The adolescence that Jena, the main character of this story, goes through, which in itself is a very delicate and complicated period of growing up and maturing, is further complicated by the fact that her mother is ill. However, this is not just a story about illness.

This is a story about love, growing up, friendship, falling in love, being a daughter and being a mother at different ages. We made this play laughing and crying, with a lot of love and understanding and with a great desire to address both young people of Jena’s age and those a little older, reminding them of their own youth and the universal challenges of coping with the complexity of life.
